As a doctor promoting LCHPMF and Intermittent Fasting I often encourage patients to have 1 square of dark chocolate to satisfy that sweet craving after dinner. If you take the 1 square and break it into 4 pieces, you now have 4 chocolate bites, but only at ~4 carbs and you satify the cravings. To make the comparison fair you had to have 3 squares. THis was a great demonstration and a reason I promote the use of CGMs as well. Nicely done! -Compton Kurtz MD
How long do you have to (need to) wait between drinking the water and eating? I wasn't sure if your comment about waiting an hour before consuming supplements also included food.
To create a greater osmotic effect should one use distilled or R/O water? PH?
Do you have to wait a certain amount of time to eat food afterwards?
Is it even possible to lose weight with hypothyroid? Lost 16 lbs. with 16:8 intermittent fasting, hit a plateau, got dehydrated and gained most of it back. Still doing 16:8 and feel better though.

A normal BMR for one hour is 50 to 80 calories. 30% of 80 is only 24. So this only burns 24 extra calories? Um....

What does this actually mean for weight loss? 25% increased metabolic rate for 60 minutes. This says to me I am picking up an extra 15 minutes of metabolism. So I am burning 24.25 hours of calories in 24 hours. Or am I missing something?

I’ve been drinking cold water first thing for years because I’m always thirsty when I first wake up. I always felt that it was the cold that was jump starting my wakening. Never considered that there was an actual metabolic effect, but it makes perfect sense from an equilibrium perspective. I’m a scientist (retired) and I find this sort of information fascinating. I have 2 cups of room temperature water with 1 lemon. Can we add lemon to the water? Will it still increase metabolism? I am not losing weight from it, unfortunately, but it just tastes good to me.

I drink lots of room temp water filtered through a berkey with fluoride filters. I wouldn’t drink directly from the tap anymore. My city water is full of fluoride and chlorine.
